FLASH FICTION FRIDAY, WEEK 58: EVER HAVE ONE OF THOSE DAYS? — THE STORIES

Red curtain

Our prompt this week was to continue a story. It began with the following:

‘You’re on your way home from work and turn onto your street. There are several police cars, with lights flashing, parked on both sides of the street, and barricades have been set up in the middle of the street. You pull over at the corner to check out the scene, and see several officers coming out of a house carrying bags and placing the bags in a van. Following them are paramedics pushing a gurney toward an ambulance, with what appears to be a body on it that has been covered with a sheet.

This scene is upsetting to you since all this activity is occurring at your house. What makes it particularly disturbing is that you live alone. You get back in your car, turn around, and head for the highway.’

So, where did our writers go from there? Let’s find out.
