Let’s begin our first week with a subject that is near and dear to me personally: Obsession. The dictionary defines obsession as the domination of one’s thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc. Also included is the state of being obsessed. If you marry obsession to compulsion (a strong, usually irresistible impulse to perform an act, especially one that is irrational or contrary to one’s will), well then, that opens the door to a myriad of scenarios.

This week, let’s explore obsession. Whether you factor in a bit of compulsive behavior as well is up to you. Also at your discretion is whether to tell your story from the perspective of the one who does the obsessing or from that of the one who is the object of someone else’s obsession. It can be quirky and hilarious or disturbing and frightening — totally up to you.

Prompt: Thrill us with your tale of obsession.
