I don’t think we’ve had a fantasy flash fiction challenge yet and it’s high time we had. Why don’t you put together a rich tapestry of magic and strange creatures, heroes and maidens, and kings and wizards.

Draw your inspiration from Arthurian Legend or maybe Tolkein. Wherever you start, take us someplace amazing. Don’t shy away from magic either.

Prompt: Write a fantasy fiction piece using these words: Forest, Fortress, Flying, Forever, and Brimstone.
Word limit: 1,500
Deadline: Wednesday, February 8th at 9:00 pm ET

I can’t wait to read everyone’s stories for this! I got totally carried away and wrote over 2500 words, but chapter one falls within the word count, so I’ll just enter that. (chapter two is right underneath if anyone has the patience for that, but it’s no biggie if you don’t. I already want to rework that.) For the first time, I got an idea and wrote a basic outline for an entire book with a beginning, middle and end, and names for each major section. That just never happens. It is a silly story, but that is very intentional. Anyway, I’m sorry for the chatter.
