I will confess right now that I am one gigantic nerd. Now that geeks and nerds are mainstream, and I hear office workers talk about Dr. Who and going to ComicCon … I’m not alone. Computers are everywhere, when they were once the province of nerds. And I adore how Hollywood portrayed computers before everyone had one. Sentient, near omniscient. Yearning to be human.
So your challenge is to use a computer as a character in your story. It can be a robot, but I’m thinking something bigger, like HAL. Or maybe your iPhone achieves sapience, and Siri falls in love with you and ruins your dates so she alone can feel your greasy fingertips on her slick screen. Have at it!
Cue: A computer as a character
Genre: Science Fiction (feel free to mix genres)
Word Limit: 1500
Deadline: Wednesday Jan. 27th 9:00PM EST
The Lost Children: A Charity Anthology (Kindle)
