F3- War is Hell edition

We have covered a lot of different kinds of tales here at F3, sci-fi, crime, noir, western, etc., but the one that has been overlooked is the classic war story. Wars have been fought since the dawn of time for various reasons, from getting rich to finding a mate or to defend the glorious cause. This week let’s delve into a war story of your very own. Is it told by the general, the foot soldier, the medic, or the poor unfortunate victim who suddenly finds it in his back yard? Let’s see what we can shell out.

Genre: War, any, past,  present or future.

Length: 1250 words

Due: Wed. Aug. 31st. 8:30 EST.

I take it that’s ‘classic’ war, as in guns ‘n’ soldiers etc., as opposed to ‘class’ war – upper class versus the working class?

Shiney new laptop at the ready (oh, yesssss!!) I shall endevour to participate this week! ;-)

(BTW – I was rather pleased there were only two stories for last week’s challenge – my eyes would have gone squiffey trying to read too much on my phone! But they were both exemplary efforts anyway – well done, Jenny and Pink!)

Here’s mine!! Well, it wasn’t really that kind of war story, it’s more of a legend. :)

Unfortunately, I’m going to miss out on this one.  The most recent one slid right by me too, I’m sorry to say.  This is the first week of school (home) for both my grandchildren’s new grades, and I’ve been busy obtaining textbooks and workbooks and preparing yearly lesson plans.  Had to learn Georgia’s home school requirements too–more forms.  If only all states were the same, but that would be too simple, wouldn’t it?  I look forward to reading the ones just posted and the ones to come this week.  Hopefully, I can get back into the swing very soon!

I had so many ideas for this – but this haunting tale would not be silenced!

I beat the clock!!! And hopefully this time I didn’t plagiarize ANYTHING. I will warn you that it’s not entirely a war story. There’s some sci-fi elements in there. But I think there’s enough war to make it count.  http://cheeseflavoredwind.blogspot.com/2011/08/fireflies-over-delphi-f3-cycle-46.html
