F3 – Cycle 36 – In A Blender

This last week I read an exceptional book, available only on the Kindle, FRANK SINATRA IN A BLENDER by Matthew McBride. It’s a seat of your pants hard-boiled thriller that features a substance abuse driven former police officer, Nick Valentine, on the case what could have been the perfect caper, save for the constant mishaps and bungling by the bad guys that lead Valentine headlong into danger.

Now I’m a fan of Ol’ Blue Eyes, the whole Rat Pack. Though Sinatra wasn’t my favorite of the crew. Dino was, and as it would happen today is Dean Martin’s birthday. He would have been 94 and 10 days ago Dean Martin would have been 94.

So naturally in the spirit of Dean, this week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt has to deal with buddies. What? Come on, I’ve segued left and right, so it’s only natural that I would include Martin’s favorite buddy, Jerry Lewis.

I want you to write a story with two buddies, Dean and Jerry. It can be genre you want, it can go any direction you want. But Dean has to be the straight suave guy and Jerry the bungling buddy.

So mix it up, I’m throwing Dean Martin, with Jerry Lewis, in a blender and I can’t wait to taste the cocktails you create.

Prompt: A Buddy story staring Dean and Jerry
Genre: Open
Word Count: 1000 words
Deadline: Thursday, June 23th, 2011, 6:30 pm EST

Next week J.C. Hutchins takes over and gets optimistic. Should be a fun prompt.
