F3 – Cycle 29 – Irregular Creatures

The Dictionary of Phrase and Fable is a resource I keep close at hand at any given time. If you don’t know why, then you’ve never flipped through one. It is a wealth of weird phrases, quirky clichés, odd ideas, and snidbits of culture.

I have the Wordsworth Dictionary of Phrase and Fable, but online you can find Brewer’s for free.

So, here’s your challenge.

Flip (er, so to speak) online to the “S” portion of Brewer’s online version.

Find any phrase that compels you under the “S” heading (for you mule-kicked folks out there, that means the phrase must begin with, drum roll please, the letter ‘s’).

That’s your title.

You’ve got 1000 words. Do it up!

Prompt: “S” Phrase from Phrase and Fable
Genre: Any
Word Count: 1000 words
Deadline: Thursday, May 5th, 2011, 4:30 pm EST
